This guide is for you if...

✔ You're considering professional guidance

✔ You would like some reassurance

✔ You want to know what to expect

✔ You want to feel more prepped before investing

Booking a babywearing consultation can feel a little daunting if you've never had one before.

Many parents worry they'll be expected to know lots about slings, or that they'll be judged for how they're currently using their carrier. The reality couldn't be more different.

Every consultation is relaxed, friendly and completely tailored to you, your baby and the questions you have. Plus the person doing the consult will be completely invested and passionate about what they do - we trained out of a love of carrying!

Whether you're expecting your first baby or carrying a busy toddler, the aim is simply to help you feel more confident and comfortable.

Who is a babywearing consultation for?

Babywearing consultations aren't just for first-time parents or for tiny babies.

They can be helpful if you:

  • Are expecting a baby and want to explore carrier options.

  • I definitely recommend however if you do have a newborn to ensure optimal wearing and safety 👉 Sling Safety: Remember ABC

  • Already own a carrier but aren't sure it's fitted correctly.

  • Feel uncomfortable while carrying.

  • Want to try different sling styles before buying.

  • Have an older baby or toddler and need something more supportive.

  • Simply want reassurance that you're doing things well.

No two sessions are the same because every family has different needs.

What happens during the session?

We'll start by talking about you (we'd of likely chatted beforehand over email too, so we have a rough agenda to work to)

Things we may have discussed include:

  • Your baby's age and stage.

  • Your previous babywearing experience.

  • What you'd like help with.

  • Any questions or concerns you already have.

From there, everything is tailored to your goals.

If you already have a carrier

We'll look at how it's fitting and make adjustments where needed.

Sometimes only a few small changes are needed to make a carrier feel completely different.

We'll also talk through why those adjustments help, so you leave feeling confident using your carrier independently.

If you're choosing a carrier

Rather than relying on online reviews or recommendations from friends, you'll have the opportunity to try different options.

This can help you discover:

  • Which styles feel most comfortable.

  • What suits your body and lifestyle.

  • Which carriers fit your baby well.

  • Whether you actually enjoy using a particular design.

Trying before buying often saves families money in the long run.

You'll have plenty of time to ask questions

No question is too small.

Whether you're wondering about:

  • Facing out.

  • Back carrying.

  • Winter clothing.

  • Summer babywearing.

  • Feeding in a sling.

  • Toddler carrying.

or anything else, we'll talk it through together.

It's all about building confidence

One of the biggest benefits of a consultation isn't simply learning how to use a carrier.

It's leaving with the confidence to keep using it when you get home.

You'll understand not just what to do, but why you're doing it.

That confidence often makes babywearing feel much more enjoyable.

What if I don't need a full consultation?

Sometimes you only need a quick adjustment or help with one specific issue.

That's why I also offer shorter support sessions for families who don't need a full consultation but would still benefit from some personalised guidance.

Final thoughts

Every babywearing journey is different.

Whether you're completely new to slings or you've been carrying for months, personalised support can make a real difference to your comfort and confidence.

The goal isn't to teach you one "right" way to carry—it's to help you find the approach that works best for you, your baby and your everyday life.

Happy Carrying,

Emma
